This one is a two stage multi cache located on Turner's Creek. A very nice relaxing 1 mile hike on trail number 223m in the Chattahoochee National Forest. The final is an ammo can. On the final, you can leave the trail just before going over the foot bridge or continue on the path and cross back over the creek later. I left some currency that I hope I never have to use. I also left my very first home made cache container that needs to fly away to a new home.
I am dedicating this cache to the 21 sailors who lost their lives on December 22 1990. The USS Saratoga was anchored just 2 miles off shore of Haifa, Israel. The Navy had contracted several small 150 passenger ferry boats to shuttle us from ship to shore. That night the sea swells were around 12 feet, and the ferry boat that I was on, was swamped and sank, turning upside down. Even though 21 shipmates drowned that cold night, many more than that became heros, the rescue itself was truley heroic.Risking their own lives to save others. A month later the air war with Iraq started and when we left 8 months later, we had dropped 4.4 MILLION pounds of ordanance on the enemy, traveled a total of 36 thousand nautical miles up and down the Red Sea, and flew 12,700 sorties. Those 21 lost sailors gave us unrelenting focus on the misson we HAD to accomplish.
