This is close to what once was The Central London District Schools.
This was built in 1856 as a poor law school, for the children of destitute families and orphans as a place to live and learn.
Its most famous pupil was Charlie Chaplin who was there with his brother Sydney for 18 months.
In the late 1960s it was a popular music venue. Procol Harem played there in 1968 and it is rumoured that Jerry Lee Lewis once played there. In 1969 The Who, Uriah Heap, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin all rehearsed there.
The sports hall here was also used as the location for the Boxing Gym and Ballet Studio in the film Billy Elliott. It has also appeared in various TV series including Only Fools and Horses and Midsommer Murders
The building is now a local community centre.
