Geocache Description:

This isn't the location of the the Furmston tree. It suites the storey as their is no public access to the area it exIsted in.

The Furmston tree is unofficially the largest living thing to have ever been on the earth. This mountain ash tree was discovered by botanist Ferdinand Von Mueller. He measures the tree at 143 meters high. The top had fallen out of it much like most of the trees you see
Here. The base was 19.5m in circumference.

The tree completely collapsed in the nineties.

We have many surveying records of trees greater then 120m high. But we have cut them all down leaving no proof that we have the tallest trees on earth.
