CERKVI SV. KATARINE IN SV. RADEGUNDE
Nedaleč od Srednje vasi pri Šenčurju stojita dve cerkvici ob enem vmesnem zvoniku. Posvečeni sta sv. Katarini in sv. Radegundi.
Leta 1961 je v cerkev Sv. Radegunde udarila strela in pod ometom so se na severni strani pokazale gotske freske iz leta 1440. Prvotna gotska cerkev je bila predelana v baroku. Narodna galerija hrani dva lesena reliefa sv. Jurija in sv. Ahaca iz te cerkve. Na moški strani je oltar posvečen sv. Štefanu. Srjani so na njegov god oživili štefanovanje z blagoslovom konj.
Gotska cerkev sv. Katarine je mlajša od sosednje. Znamenitost je restavriran kasetiran strop z angeli in podobo sv. Katarine v sredini. V cerkvi je zanimiv križev pot v bohoričici. V tlaku cerkve so odkrili temelje še starejše cerkve.
Ne pozabite obiskati lepih sester sv. Katarine in sv. Radegunde in prisluhnite tišini cerkva, pod njimi se sliši šum voda.
Ne pozabite, da ste tu le gostje, zato stvari pustite tako, kot ste jih dobili! Če ste v dvomu, poglejte hint!
CHURCHES, DEDICATED TO ST. CATHERINE AND ST. RADEGUNDA
Not far from the Srednja vas near Šenčur, there are two churches witha a steeple in between. They are dedicated to St. Catherine and St. Radegunda.
In 1961, the church of St. Radegunda was hit by lightning and below the facade on the north wall, gothic frescoes from 1440 were revealed. The original Gothic church was redesigned in baroque. There are two wood reliefs of St. George and St. Ahac from this church exhibited in the National Gallery. The altar on the men's side of the church is dedicated to St. Stephen. The villagers revived the old custom of blessing horses on his name day.
The Gothic church St. Catherine is younger than its neighbour. The restored coffered ceiling with angels and St. Catherine in the middle is well worth seeing. The church has very interesting pictures of Christ carrying the cross. In the church pavement they discovered the foundations of an even older church.
