Old Vale Cemetery (Vale #1) is also known as Beals Cemetery. It is located in Butte County SD, west of the small town of Vale. The cemetery contains approximately 80 internments and was established in 1887. However, it is interesting to note the oldest grave here dates 1885. To get to the site, turn west on Vale Cutoff road from Highway 79 south of Newell. It's about a quarter mile past the turn off. There is an excellent view of Bear Butte from this site.
You do not have to enter the cemetery grounds to find the cache. If a service is in progress, or if there is someone here maintaining a grave site, please come back at a later time. If you do chose to visit the cemetery, please pay due respect and do not disturb any of the markers or headstones. Follow any and all posted cemetery regulations. Most importantly, do NOT look for this cache after dark.
You are looking for a small bison tube. Bring your own writing stick as there isn't one in the cache. You may need a TOTT to extract the log from the cache. Please return the cache exactly as found, making sure it remains well-hidden.
As with all of our caches, enjoy the area, be safe and have fun.
