Sørseterrunden #2 - Round-trip til Sørsetra Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,
Cervis Venator

Geocache Description:

TAKE A BREAK 2
Small children along on the trip? On the west side of the trail is a nice spot to build a campfire and relax while the adults ski further along the trail. The tight tree growth here is a perfect place when "nature calls"...

“UT PÅ TUR, ALDRI SUR – UT PÅ SKI, ALLTID BLID!”

Finally the weekend has come, a sunny winter day with fresh snow and temperatures just under freezing. What do Norwegians in Asker and Bærum do on “such a winter’s day?” Pack their rucksacks with sandwiches, chocolates, and a thermos with warm coffee or cocoa – strap their XC-skis on the car ski rack, and head for Sollihøgda in Hole, 15 minutes from Sandvika on E-16.

Even though there is parking for hundreds of cars in the area, it’s a good idea to get an early start on a Saturday or Sunday – the lots fill up very quickly! From Høymyr/Toresplassen parking area, there are three alternative routes that lead to the idyllic and traditional summer grazing area, Sørsetra. The ski trails are prepared for classic-style cross-country skiing and are kept in good condition throughout the winter. For geocaching’s “Sørseterrunden” the trail that passes Toresplassen is a good starting point. Return trip is over the “linjeløypa”, following the electric masts that run through Krokskogen.

The caches in Sørseterrunden are placed along the ski trail, are easily accessible and family-friendly. Total distance for the caches in this series is approx. 15 km, so a stop at the Sørsetra Skistua midway is a great way to relax and warm your fingers and toes before the return trip to Sollihøgda. During the winter season, the kafe is open Friday 11-15 and 10-16 on Saturday and Sunday. Warm and cold drinks, cinnamon buns (yum!), waffles and chocolates are available for purchase.
