Welcome to the Great Tour De ‘Boken!
This cache will take you all over the great city of Hoboken; to small parks, monuments, and other historic places. Many of the places even pass very close to another Geocache!
I first arrived in Hoboken in August of 2011. It was a strange new place that I couldn’t wait to explore. Here are the coordinates to the cache:
N 40 JH.F0A W CK 0D.IG2
*The underlined segments are ZEROES NOT LETTERS.
Now, Ladies and Gentlemen! Let the Tour De ‘Boken Begin! Start your journey at the following coordinates; there you will find your first clue.
N 40 44.464 W 74 1.599
1. At the Hoboken WWII Memorial, how many cylindrical stones bearing military insignia are at the base of the flag pole? The number of stones equals A.
2. Walk out to the end of Pier C Park. There you will find a “Hi-Spy Viewing Machine” at N 40 44.421 W 74 1.499. Look at the silver ring around the bottom. There will be an inscription with a Roman numeral on it. That Roman numeral equals B.
3. N 40 44.224 W 74 1.507 will lead you to Pier A. Count the number of benches under the gazebo at the given coordinates. Use this to find the next number: # of benches – 1=C.
4. A statue of Samuel Sloan stands near the Hoboken Terminal at N 40 44.172 W 74 1.673. He lived from 181X to 190Y. Divide X by Y to find D.
5. The barge at Hoboken Terminal has been moved, E EQUALS 4
6. N 40 44.531 W 74 1.935 will bring you to the center of Church Square Park. Here there are two monuments. One is a statue of Guglielmo Marconi. It was erected on April 2, 19F5. F is the missing digit.
7. The next monument in the park is a monument dedicated to Hoboken’s Volunteer Fire Department. It was created on May 30, 18G1. G is the missing digit.
8. At N 40 45.057 W 74 2.170 you will find a small, seemingly forgotten park. This park is an oasis at the end of a long parking lot filled with crazy shoppers. Take a look under the gazebos; the number of chess tables equals H.
9. Columbus Park lies at N 40 44.929 W 74 1.963. Here you will find a statue in his honor. When was it dedicated? October 12, 1XY7. X-Y= I
10. Go to Maxwell Place Park and find a plaque outside of the boathouse at N 40 44.907 W 74 1.453. Read it and discover that the New York Yacht Club was organized on July 30, 1XY4. X-Y=J
11. Off Frank Sinatra Drive lies Sybil’s Cave (N 40 44.712 W 74 1.377). The date the site was excavated 1X3Y-1836. X Divided by Y equals K.

Place the numbers in their appropriate places to gain access to the location of the cache!
-A Quick Word of Caution!-
• Use Common Sense when attempting this Geocache!! If you feel uneasy about a certain place, do not go there! Wait for another day, the statue will be there!
• This Geocache is NOT recommended at night. Some places are closed at dusk. Other places become sleeping areas for the homeless and hangouts for troublemakers. Do NOT put yourself in danger for a silly container!!
• Cross the road ONLY at designated crosswalks. Anywhere else is not only illegal, it is very dangerous. Drivers are in a hurry and may not see you in time. Always be attentive. Obey ALL traffic rules.
• Walking is the absolute best way to go about finding this cache and all of its stages. Parking is scarce in Hoboken, and many places may not have spots open. You may risk a parking ticket if using a car to find some stages.
• If you bring children, always keep a watchful eye on them. Some stages are close to cars, trains, and the Hudson River.
Stay safe and have fun completing this SubaruGuy approved Geocache!
