This cache is a blinkie and is an easy find.
It is not on the building or on post office property. Please respect the area and watch for muggles.
This cache is located in front of the red brick building that once housed the Seminole Indian Medicine company. W.R. Montgomery started this business in March,1899 as a manufacturer of six “remedies” in a small room at 813½ Keeler Street. The business grew rapidly to include nearly fifty kinds of preparations from medicines to food flavorings to cleaning products. That growth necessitated a bigger building and in 1901 this building was completed. For its time this was a state-of-the-art building with large offices and meeting rooms furnished in mahogany on the first floor. The second floor had rooms for the preparation of various products, shipping rooms and several rooms for the employees such as “toilet rooms” and a “clothes press”.
This business continued making products using both the Seminole Indian Medicine Label and the Montgomery Medicine label until around 1917. (Sources used did not indicate a specific date.)
The building stood empty for several years but recently various business were on the main floor. Today a consignment shop is located here.
It is interesting to note that this building is still used as a laboratory. The company housed in the basement of this building has developed several car care products and their web site list their business category as soap and detergent manufacturers.
