Geocache Description:

*** This cache is not at the listed coordinates ***

This is a puzzle cache. If you go to the posted coordinates, you will find the old-fashioned glow clock shown below, but you will not find the cache. In order to find the correct coordinates, you must solve the puzzle.

The cache itself is around two inches by three inches and is well camoed. It contains only a log, so be sure to bring your own pen. Also, please rehide the cache exactly as you found it to help prevent it from being muggled.

In 1932, Thomas Cave opened Cave's Jewelers in downtown Little Rock on East Capitol Ave. By 1946, Cave's had moved around the corner and down the street, near the old M.M. Cohn Department Store.

Downtown Little Rock looked much different in those days. People drove or rode public transportation to come into the city to do their shopping. Cave's Jewelry was eventually one of three jewelers located within walking distance.

Some time after the store relocated, the Cave's clock was erected. The clock is similar in style to the one that stood outside Pfiefer's Department Store on Main Street, just north of Cave's. The Pfiefer clock no longer exists.

The clock is not currently located at its original location. By the 1970's, downtown Little Rock was struggling to survive. Plans began to build the Metrocentre Mall, which required closing some streets to traffic. The clock was relocated at that time to the coordinates posted with this cache.

Unfortunately, the Metrocentre Mall never took hold, and the merchants in downtown continued to struggle. In the 1980's, Cave's Jewelers moved to a location on "R" Street in the Heights. It has since closed business completely.

"The clock is one of downtown's historical treasures that will have its permanent home at the corner of Main Street and Capitol Avenue," said Sharon Priest, executive director of the Downtown Little Rock Partnership, the organization that oversees upkeep of the clock and manages the Metrocentre Improvement District.

"Its presence will always give those who remember Main Street over the years the opportunity to fall back in time with moments of reflection as we spring into the future with Main Street revitalization."

The clock is a reminder of the former grandeur of Main Street, a time when this part of downtown Little Rock bustled like the River Market does today. Now, the clock stands alone, awaiting the reinvention of Main and a return of the street's glory. Perhaps it won't wait too much longer, as discussions surrounding the redevelopment of Main Street are gaining momentum.

I changed all my puzzles to use certitude, as it is the best I have found. The original geochecker had 70 wrong attempts and 6 correct attempts before being retired.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.
Congratulations to kbd71 for being FTF!
