Geocache Description:

This cache is the 30th point on the Dartmoor Forest boundary, as established by the 1240 Perambulation. More details about the Perambulation can be found on the cache page for the Dartmoor Forest Bonus. On the front page of the logbook is an adjustment to be made to the Bonus co-ordinates, which you will need to find the Bonus.

Stenga Tor, known variously as Steng-a-Tor or Stinka Tor, lies on the eastern slopes of Woodcock Hill, and has a commanding view towards the Willhays massif. The tor itself lies in the middle of an extensive marshy area, and the walking is not easy, but the views east to the higher neighbouring tors and north to the adjacent lowlands are magnificent.

The area around the tor itself is very wet and boggy. If you approach the tor from the north, you will find a strip of dryish ground that will save your feet getting any wetter.

The next point on the Perambulation is Sandy Ford, and the bad ground is compensated for to some degree by the steep downwards slope towards the West Okement River. The walk from here to there is a direct yomp down the hillside, before you head up once more, to the highest point on the perambulation: Yes Tor.
