The cache is a camuflauged wallet case located near the mouth of Rock Creek, where the creek empties into the Mulberry River. It is at the beginning of a nice hiking trail that I walk often.
Ozark National Forest Permit #0810-05FY1205
My great-great grandparents, William Marion and Lucinda (Mayner-Rosson-Horner) Kirkendoll, settled this area in the mid-1800s. My great-grandmother, Mary Ella (Kirkendoll) Campbell, was born here in 1871. Look around and you will see parts of the foundation of the house. Notice how the house was so close to Rock Creek and that it seems part of the foundation is actually in the creek. Over the past 141 years, the creek must have changed its route. It is highly doubtful that part of the house stood over the creek, due to flooding. Enjoy the view while you are there!
