Geocache Description:

This cache is in honor of Steinbeck's greatest book! You'll need to park on the side of the road before you reach this cache and then walk several meters. It is rough terrain and be sure to walk on the other side of the guard rail as people can drive a bit crazy on this hwy.

"Then down the gorged Rio Grande to Los Lunas and west again on 66 to Gallup...". In John Steinbeck's novel The Grapes of Wrath in chapter 12 the Joads traveled through my home town of Los Lunas on old Route 66. If you take this old route west from Los Lunas in your car you'll climb a hill, then look back in your rear view mirror, and for a moment you're transported into that old Hudson of the Joads' looking back into the fertile Rio Grande valley with only the hot desert and the dream of California out in front of you.

So this cache is for all the English majors like me. And it is dedicated to my beloved father in law who's favorite book was The Grapes of Wrath and who was the owner of several glorious Hudsons!
