Geocache Description:

The Story:
Your hike will take you through The Lost City of Lausanne once a thriving rail road town.
In 1812 it had it's own Post Office,Major stage coach road and toll bridge.

It also had a large hotel known as The Landing Hotel. It served The Rail workers and riders The river workers and the stage coach riders so it was quite the fronteer hotel.

Your walk will take you past what is left of all of these.

The Hike:
Make a copy of this page it will be helpfull.
Bring a camera there will be some very cool pics. Bring some water proof boots there is some wet spots and one small stream to ford. Bring a friend it's more fun that way.

The Cache:

The listed #s are for part 1
Park at parking #s walk toward the guard rail pick up the path at the guard rail it's a bit hard to see at first follow along 209 toward Nesquehoning (away from Jim Thorpe ) angle down to RR tracks crossover to #s for start of path down to 1st bridge When you come out to tracks this would be a good time to make a mark so you can find the path back to parking later.

Go up the tracks ( toward Nesquehoning ) 200 feet and look for the well worn path going down to the 1st crossing.

After crossing 1st bridge follow path to the old stage coach road keep going to 1st stage you will cross small stream. At stream are the remains of the old toll bridge. Here the crossing is a little hairy there's a log bridge that the fishermen keep here but it's a bit trickie you may just want to ford the stream it's not that deep.

This road was the only road over the Broad Mtn. and the citizens of Lausanne charged a toll to go over there bridge

Stage 1 is one of the old stone homes at stage one inside on the back wall is a 4 letter name If the name is:

Luke 2 is at 40 52 577
75 45 785

JAKE 2 is at 40 52 515
75 45 835

To get to part 2 back down path over stream again almost back to 1st bridge but don't cross 1st bridge instead go down stream on the side you are allready on stay close to the water there is a semi path if you look for it till you get to part 2

Part 2 is another bridge cross the bridge on the far side ( the rail road side ) there is a plastic wrap on the lower part of the bridge what color is it? the final is at:

white 40 52 370
75 45 470

Red 40 52 330
75 45 633

Green 40 52 366
75 45 488

To get to final cross 2nd bridge stay on path, this goes through the site of the old Landing Hotel to RR tracks back to where you 1st came down, back up to parking area from there you can pick up path that follows 209 ( this time towards Jim Thorpe ) to final.

The final is at the Great Oak of Lausanne this was once the town square 200 years ago. This is also the 1st Post office in Carbon Co. Est. 1812
I had the final in the great oak but when I went back to check on it it was gone so now its in the post office
There are some lottos take one good luck
