Geocache Description:

****January 8th, 2013: Our friend and fellow cacher JabbaTHutt(Lennard Carpenter) passed away. A great guy who will be missed by all. This cache is for you buddy. I miss laughing and caching with you. Rest in peace my friend.****

Background

September 22nd,2004 JabbaTHutt hid a cache entitled "Jabba's Ugly Mugg Cache!!!". The cache was a great success in a beautiful park that no one knew about. Over the years it gained 8 favourite points. Unfortunately at the beginning of 2012 the cache was pretty much muggled. At ground zero only remains of the cache were there. The container empty, sitting next to a bonfire. The log book, likely burned. All the mugs, smashed. Jabba decided it was time to put this cache to rest. The container was donated to me...

The Cache

This cache will follow the exact same format at the previous cache. It is FILLED to the brim with ugly mugs for your trading pleasure. Also the cache is full of swag. The only difference between this cache and the original is that I painted the original container to blend in a little more with it's surroundings. From the original cache page:

This is an UGLY MUGG cache, no its not what you think, though since I was unable to attend GHAGAFAP III and meet some of the other fine Geocachers I really can't say for sure if this applies to any of them.
Any way here it is, the wife used to buy coffee mugs at garage sales, and damn, some of them where ugly as sin.
We got rid of some of them at a few lawn sales but I guess the real UGLY ones got left behind.
There are about a dozen mugs in the barrel, take your pick, leave an ugly one you may have laying around, (there are even some kids mugs) or leave whatever you want, lots of room.
Please take the mugs, they are just to ugly to keep, find another cache to put them in, leave something else!
Please!! PLEASE!! I BEG OF YOU!!!!!!!!!! Take a Mugg if you are going to leave one!!!!! Take a Mugg if you are not leaving anything!!!
JUST TAKE A MUGG so I can be rid of them.
If I have to bring any back home the WIFE is going to want to keep them, and I CAN'T have that!!!!!!!!!!!

The cache itself is a tribute to Jabba. Jabba's profile states he's been caching since 2004. When I started caching in 2010 Jabba was known as one of the "Niagara Caching Pioneers" in my books. The first time we met, and every time we meet it's always been a pleasure and a fun time caching alongside him. I hope you enjoy this cache.. the trail isn't too, too bad. Happy caching!

The Location

The cache is located in the Lathrop Nature Preserve. The preserve is located in Pelham and is part of the the Fonthill Sandhill Valley. In 1998 the richly wooded property was generously donated to the Nature Conservancy of Canada by Dr. D. Whiting and Margaret Lathrop.
The forest cover on this property helps protect the Twelve Mile Creek, which supports the last remaining brook trout population in the Niagara Region. This property also protects species of Carolinan trees which are now considered rare in Ontario.

If you completed my Internet Meme Series Final this location will look very familiar. If not identical. ;)
