Geocache Description:

Please trade items that are green in color. No night caching.

The color green is one of the additive primary colors. But in the subtractive color system, it is not considered a primary color. In this system, it is made from mixing yellow and blue. In the light spectrum, it is dominated by the energy with a wavelength of 520 to 570 nm. It's frequency is `575-525 THz. On the traditional color wheel, its complementary color is considered to be red. It is one of the spectral colors.

The modern English word is comes from the Old English word grene. Many languages do not have a designation between blue and green. Instead, a cover term is used, grue.

Many minerals have been used to give paint and dyes a green tint. An emerald gives a green color by trace amounts of chromium and vanadium. Early painters would use copper mixed with wax and turpentine to create green pigaments. Oxidzed cobalt and zinc have also been used to create green paints.

There is no natural source for green food colorings that have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. The only natual source approved for limited use in medicines and cosmetic materials is Chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is also what gives plants their green color.

To generate a green glow, fireworks use barium salts.

Green is commonly associated with life, the sea, nature, grass, hope, youth, sickness, spring, frogs, Saint Patrick's Day, money and envy. Green is also the color of the box of some people's favorite mint cookie. It can also be seen in flags, sports team merchandise, vehicles, and in jewelry.

It is also one of the four quadrants of the geocaching symbol.
