Why not? Whynot?
Many people don’t appreciate that the Road to Climax is a Randolph County Invention. I don’t know how long this has been true but it certainly is now. The series will explore and celebrate that . For example, who would have ever thought there would be an Erect-Climax Road, much less in Randolph County. Well, there is, and you are going to be driving on it if you too complete this short cache run in one day. Most folks will think this is an easy journey. But, as some of you know (particularly old gals and geezers), the Road to Climax is often gets more complicated than it was when you were younger. I hope this is a “pleasant” trip today whether you complete it quickly or more slowly.
The first stop on the road to Climax is Why Not (or Whynot)? If you haven’t been here, you should have been. It’s a great question to be asking early in this growing process before one gets carried away. If we did the world might have fewer little “difficulties” to contend with. First, one has to know how to pronounce this term/place properly. In other places and settings we would be Why NOT? (emphasis on the second syllable or word of the pair). In Randolph County contrarian speak, this becomes WHYnot (emphasis on the first syllable or word). Likewise, there is a different pronunciation for Erect. Instead of the emphasis on the second syllable, one emphasizes the first one: Eh-RECT becomes EE-rect. See? I can see you are already getting into the swing! If you did, you would be a Swing-er. That’s the spirit! You go!
This caching journey will take one from Whynot through Falsely Erect to Fully Erect, and finally on to Climax. It’s quite a little road! Those who complete this caching journey in one day can get a special certificate for getting all the way to Climax! How cool is that? You get to Climax and you get a certificate too! All in one day! I have an urge to go outside a smoke a cigarette……
