Jørgenhytta lies to the west in Krokskogen, approximately 300
meters from Sørsetra. The name honors Jørgen Bjelke, a member of
“Oslo og Omegn Turistforeningen”. Turistforening
(Norwegian Trekking Association) assumed ownership of the cabin in
2010, renovated it, and in July 2011 it was reopened. Members of
Turistforening can reserve the cabin, see DNT’s website for
more details. The cabin’s original name was “Løkkebo
,” given by its former owner, the Tax Inspector’s
Office in Oslo. Løkkebo was built in the late 1950’s with
funds collected voluntarily from office employees. For three years
prior to its completion approx. 60 employees had contributed 50 øre
each month towards the building fund, 30 kroner a month. On October
4, 1959 the opening ceremony was held with 50 members and their
families in attendance. In the years that followed the cabin was
used for weekend retreats for the employees, and every season had
its charm – skiing in the winter, greeting the farm animals
grazing in the spring and summer, and berry picking in the autumn.
