Geocache Description:

LEAP YEAR 2012
WED 29 / 2

Why a 29/2 Multi-Event?

2012 is a leap year, otherwise known as an intercalary year.
The official calendar tells us there should be 365 days in a year.
The Earth though takes 365.25 days to orbit the Sun.
The difference between the calendar time and the orbiting time makes that a correction is needed.
If no correction happens, after a while we would experience the Summer Solstice in the middle of Winter!

To correct for this anomaly, every four years, an extra day - 29 February - is added to the calendar.
So in 2012, we get an extra day to do geocaching.

This event is also part of a world wide multi-event. And you will be part of the Most Eastern Event in the World.
As it is a weekday evening, the event is going to be held very casually. Please gather at the coordinates and join for a coffee and dessert.

SPECIAL EVENT TAG
Available onsite will be a special tag featuring a picture of
the Clock tower of the First Light City - Gisborne/NZ .

The tags will be available for $12.00

When:
On 29 Feb 2012 of course! From 7pm till 9pm.

What:
Since it is a weekday night, we will keep it simple. A family friendly social gathering. Come and swap your tall tales about the one that got away, or compare notes about those challenging difficult puzzles, or just come to put a face to those names you've seen in the log books. Most importantly, come along to tick off the 29th of Feb on your finds calendar.

Where:
Breakers Cafe and Bar on the water front, Reads Quay in Gisborne. Please remember at this event the food and drinks will not be provided by the hosts. If you want to eat and drink it will be your responsibility to pay your own bill.

PLEASE LOG YOUR ATTENDANCE WITH NUMBER SO THAT WE CAN CONFIRM THE NUMBERS WITH THE CAFE CLOSER TO THE TIME
