NOT RECOMMENDED FOR YOUNG CHILDREN. Cache is hidden along a road that is no longer open to vehicles. It is blocked on both ends by road barriers. Parking is available at either end. Check waypoints for suggestions. One parking spot is at Quiktrip. Another parking spot is at Rock Springs Methodist Church (established 1866). There is an old graveyard near the church that is worth checking out. From either parking spots, you will be taking a short hike down the dirt road. This stretch can be nice during the fall while leaves are changing and falling. No bears or hunters in the area.

Fred Bear, an American bow hunter, bow manufacturer, author, and television host was immortalized in the song Fred Bear from the album Spirit of the Wild by hard rock musician Ted Nugent, who was Bear's friend. Released in May 1995, The album Spirit of the Wild was the eleventh studio album of Ted Nugent, and included this song. This album marked the return of Nugent's original sound of hard rock and not the pop metal style of his '80s solo work.
Fred Bear has a memorable riff, and at the end of the track the voice of the original Fred Bear can be heard.
