Oxidation was one of the first caches I made here it Gulf State Park. It was a REALLY tough one that usually had about as many DNF's and finds. Sadly the gas company announced that they were going to fence in the area the cache was in. What was I to do, other than recreated it with a vengeance with with "Oxidation's Revenge".
The cache is located on or around a piece of an old, Dodge, Power Wagon that was abandoned long ago in the wildlife preserve of the Park. I expect some of our Michigan Snow birds can probably tell me exactly what year it was and may have even helped to build it. It is always kind of sad to me to see something that someone was once proud to have reduced to junk. There are many pieces of the truck to chose from, not to mention some other good choices in the surrounding area. It is intended to be hard and you will truly earn your 4.5/2.5 D/T combination when you find it. I probably should have made it a 5 star difficulty, but I learned through the original Oxidation that the 4.5/2.5 combinations is very rare in our area and people will drive a long way to claim it. That said, it will likely take more than one trip and a whole lot of patience to find. You do not need to disassemble anything or break anything to find the cache. Please leave the cache site the way you found it.
Please don't hesitate to log a DNF, even if you are planning on coming for another look. That way other cachers can truly track the difficulty involved in going for this cache. It will also let me know if I made it too hard and better hints need to be provided. Enjoy the hunt.
