Geocache Description:

Falcon Bridge carries road traffic across Bude Canal between the Lower Wharf and Higher Wharf.

The original Falcon Bride was a swing bridge to give road traffic a crossing point on the canal and to permit shipping to travel from the lower wharf to the higher wharf where much cargo was unloaded.

The Act of 1819 required the proprietors of the canal The Bude Harbour and Canal Company to install a swing bridge for the road crossing between the upper and lower basins to ensure freedom of navigation for sailing vessels.

Link to a 1910 photo of the bridge. (visit link)

The current bridge is a concrete and stone clad structure.

This is a high muggle area.
