This is part of the 'Slight Detour' series of caches placed specifically for the Essex Camping Event 2012. Anyone attending the Camping Event 2012 can claim a joint FTF on the caches in this series.
This series is an interesting and varied route in its own right, but if you are walking the ECE (Essex Camping Event 2012) St Peter's Ring, and think the 18 miles may be too far in one go, then this detour gives you more options on the length of walk you could complete.
The walk between #2 and #3 goes around the field edge at Westbrook Farm. Please follow the western & southern perimiter of the field here which is the correct route for the footpath as marked on your OS map.
If you approach from #3 there is a big sign advising the path is around the field, however the sign as you approach from #2 is missing, as is the footpath marker, so please take care here and be sure to stick to the field edge heading around to the west.
It can be rather boggy between #2 and #3 and you may find yourself wading in places. There can also be knee/waist high stinging nettles in the summer and there is some barbed wire at GZ - the path is quite uneven at GZ and this isn't obvious in the long grass so please take care here.
