This is part of the 'Slight Detour' series of caches placed specifically for the Essex Camping Event 2012. Anyone attending the Camping Event 2012 can claim a joint FTF on the caches in this series.
No tree climbing is needed here. However the terrain and difficulty rating should give you some clue as to where it might be. Finding it is another matter entirely...
This series is an interesting and varied route in its own right, but if you are walking the ECE (Essex Camping Event 2012) St Peter's Ring, and think the 18 miles may be too far in one go, then this detour gives you more options on the length of walk you could complete.
It can be difficult to see where the footpath goes around GZ. There is a plank bridge on either side of the grass track but they are not opposite each other and you can't see the other from either bridge. Please check the position of the trail markers on the map.
If you are only planning on doing the Slight Detour series and do not want to continue on the St Peter's ring, you can get a bus between Tillingham and Bradwell waterside. This is the D4 service but please note there is a limited service on Saturday and no service on Sundays or bank holidays.
If you are going to do this I recommend getting the bus to the other end of the series and walking back to your transport. This way you won't be stranded for too long if you miss the bus or it doesn't turn up.
There are public convienences available in Tillingham at the West Field carpark, but they are NOT open 24/7.
