Geocache Description:

You are looking for a nano in Conoco Park. Parking on street closest to houses, Park side only.

Why is the Westridge neighborhood park called Conoco? The developer planned for apartments on this land but when that failed to happen the residents of Westridge started using it as an unofficial park. The city would even flood a part of it for ice skating in the winter. After many years Conoco Oil wanted to put a gas station on the NW corner of 84th and Papillion Parkway. That required a change in neighborhood covenants. The city only agreed if Conoco bought the apartment land and donated it for a park. Conoco Gas Station was short lived but the park has been heavily used for over 45 years. The gas station building which had a restaurant, called, "Mr. Up's", is the bank across from McDonalds.

The Old Conoco Gas station is now gone, demolished in May of 2013. It was an especially unattractive building but was a part of the neighborhood for so long we kind of miss it. I'm sure the new building on the property will look better.
