MMR Series - Measles Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

iowaPete: It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to this neat series of caches. Unfortunately, the Level B road got soooooo bad, that it was converted to a Level C type. When that happens, the road is officially closed to public access, and the land owners on either side become the ones who have access to the "road." (I use the term "road" here rather loosely. As you can see from the attached photo, the public ground is now converted to private.

I have removed all of the containers. This series had a great run and got some really interesting and fun log entries. Looks like I'm gonna have to get back into my vehicle and prowl the back roads, looking for another possible location similar to here....

Geocache Description:

A 3-cache series. This cache is located close to parking.

MMR for this cache series stands for Minimum Maintenance Road.

But in my profession, it means something completely different. MMR refers to a triple-vaccine that is administered to children as a matter of routine. Here are a couple fast facts about the first "M" in MMR - Measles.

Measles is a highly contagious, serious disease caused by a virus.

In 1980, before widespread vaccination, measles caused an estimated 2.6 million deaths each year.

It remains one of the leading causes of death among young children globally, despite the availability of a safe and effective vaccine.

From 2001 to 2011 an estimated one billion children living in high risk countries were vaccinated against the disease, reducing the death rate by a whopping 78%.

Enough with the school lesson. Let's talk about the cache: If park-n-grabs are your thing, then this series isn't for you. If you're the more adventurous type who enjoys a bit of a physical challenge, then come find these caches. Be ready to work for this series. These caches are designed to be physically difficult and the terrain rating reflects that. I wouldn't recommend having young children along for this series of caches. There is no need for a TOTT for any of them. But, you may find yourself scratched, dirty, muddy, and cursing to yourself before all this is said and done. You have been advised!

Please park at the designated spot and walk to gz. The local residents are busy, hardworking people who do not enjoy pulling your vehicle out of this messy road.

When you do find the container (and you WILL find it), please make sure it is reattached in the same way as you found it in order for it to stay secure. Step carefully, take your time, practice CITO where appropriate, but above all, have fun!
