Skeddan Traditional Cache

I have given an terrain rating of 3.5 but this will vary depending on the individual,the starting point and the time of year.

Whichever route is taken, it will involve uphill walking & walking along cliff paths please wear appropriate clothing & footwear. If you intend trekking alone, consider telling someone where you are going and when you plan to return, the life you save may be your own!

Known as 'Bayr ny Skeddan' in Manx, this path will take you from the coast at Peel to Castletown by way of Glen Maye and South Barrule. It was the route once taken by Manx fishermen as they journeyed between the two ports.

This is my favorite walk in the whole Island and is badly in need of a cache. It is placed somewhere Between Peel and Glen Maye on the Bayr Ny Skeddan and there are multiple ways to tackle this cache depending on your individual abilities and your energy levels!

The quickest route is from Glen Maye, from the car park coordinates, take the road down to the beach from where you can pick up the Bayr Ny Skeddan.

The next option is to start your journey at Peel. Starting at the parking coords, take one of the paths over Peel hill maybe taking in Corrins Tower on your way.Further information about Corrins Tower can be found HERE .

The Iron man/woman option is to walk the whole Bayr Ny Skeddan. A 14 mile yomp, not for the faint hearted but offering some of the most breathtaking scenery this Island has to offer. You can start from either Peel or Castletown, there are plenty of buses to get you home again.you can find further information about walking the whole path HERE

The cache is a small container with a log/pencil and a few small items please replace carefully to avoid muggles
