Geocache Description:

This is one of eight caches located along the Clare Lake Forest Greenway, a 4.6km loop walk in Claremorris. The park closes at 6pm during the winter and 8pm in the summer – this cache is not suitable for a night search.

This cache is located near a sculpture in Claremorris' Land of the Giants - if the sculpture has a name we don't know it, so we've called him "Allan, the Danish Ambassador".

There is a car park next to the children's playground, on the R331 road to Ballinrobe, on the southern edge of Claremorris. Walk back toward the town and the entrance to McMahon Park is a few metres on your right.

Follow the loop walk and enjoy the lovely scenery and larger than life art installations around Clare Lake. At the south-eastern end of the lake, you'll find a gigantic yellow door - from here you should take the Dr. Noreen Keane Trail and keep walking south-east along the straight path. At the Big Red Chair you can turn left or right - right will take you to Allan in about 10 minutes, left will take you to him in about 30 minutes.

Once you've found the cache you can return the way you came or carry on for the rest of the loop walk.

"Allan" is made of several thousand tiny bricks which were manufactured by a famous Danish company and donated by a well known Claremorris toy company. The sculpture was designed and built by the Casby brothers, two Claremorris artists who have built the sculptures in the Land of the Giants.

This cache is named for Alan from Cloonfad, who supplied the cache container. We think you'll agree that the cache honours the Danish Ambassador.

This is a small cache, originally containing a pencil and a log book. Please leave the cache exactly as you find it.

The coordinates will take you to Allan, but not the cache, as the nearby pylon has caused some problems with the GPS. The cache is located 20-25m SE of Allan, off the beaten path.
