This cache is one of a series of 23 caches that, when viewed from an aerial, see picture above or zoom out from larger map; resemble a Smiley Face in the middle of Columbia Lake. An accumulation of caches similar to this is referred to as GeoArt. The inspiration for this came from BillionJ a St George, Utah cacher who has created 2 GeoArt series of over 100 caches each.
The first of the series is the mouth and eyes, comprising 7 caches. The last three caches, due to wash out in the road, may be only accessible by foot, approximately ½ kilometers from the parking waypoint at N50 17.191 W115 50.943.
These caches are located within a Provincial Park on the eastern side of the Columbia Lake. The area is a key part of The Spirit Trail, a sacred area of the original people of the valley, the Ktunaxa. They used the trail to hunt and trade goods up and down the valley for 10,000 years. The barrier gate at the end of the Park stops hikers and bikers from going all the way to Canal Flats, but hopefully this will be open soon once lot 48 is resolved. Enjoy the Columbia River and the lake and rivers views along with the eagles, deer, elk and other species.
Please bring a pencil and an extraction tweezers are recommended. After signing the log, please replace the jeek as you found it.
The physical cache on land, is a jeek tube, the coordinates of which are discovered by solving the following puzzle which is a cipher based on: F A I R M O N T H S = 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 for example: F =1 A=2 I=3 R=4 M=5 etc
