Franklin Mills Riveredge Park & Brady's Leap! Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

MrFisherman: Well, as they say, all good things must come to an end and after almost seven years Franklin Mills Riveredge Park & Brady's Leap! Mystery cache is MIA for a second time this year. I had permission to place this cache be Kent's parks office but it must be a case of the left-hand doesn't know the right. The park's crews have been improving the area where GZ was. And after the first improvements, I thought they were completed but I can't find the container after a newly added black fence was installed. It would take too much time to recalculate this find. and it would be too risky to try again in the same spot. At least it had 73 finds and 21 favorites. Thanks if you were one of the visitors, happy hunting and maybe I'll see what happens down the road!! Mr Fisherman

A Big Congrats to "bulldog2000i" for being the FTF!

CAUTION: Go to the above coords only if you are hungry! The cache is NOT there!

Welcome to "Franklin Mills Riveredge Park and Brady's Leap" Mystery Geocache nestled along the Cuyahoga River walkway in Kent Ohio. Franklin Mills Riveredge Park follows the Cuyahoga River from Gougler Street at Brady's Leap to Stow Street at John Brown Tannery Park. This land was deeded to the City of Kent by both Lamson - Sessions Company and Kent family heirs during 1934-35. This park was named after the original settlement along the river, Franklin Mills.

Many thanks go out to the City of Kent Parks and Recreations department for giving permission to place this Mystery Cache in the Franklin Mills area. After you find the final stage of this Mystery Cache, there are more historical landmarks in the area that you can find by viewing the City of Kent Parks and Recreations department website at: www.kentparksandrec.com for more information. For many years the Kent Parks department has maintained and preserved the city's historical landmarks for its citizen's and for future generations to enjoy, please help by practicing CITO.

You may park on top of the Main Street Bridge at the Parking Coords listed below. Use the crosswalk diagonal to the Kent Library and proceed to the park entrance and the stairs going down to the boardwalk where the 1st Stage is located. Or you may use any legal parking spot available near the Franklin Mills Park but the Main Street Bridge entrance is where this Mystery Cache begins.

You can learn the "Final Coordinates" of this Mystery Cache by answering all six questions at each location of coordinates listed below. (Please bring your own pad of paper and writing stick).

Final Coords: N 41° 09.ABC W 081° 21.DEF

Stage 1: City Manager Steinbrecher formed the ____ member Kent Dam Advisory Committee in 1999. (A ='s) Subtract the number of members of the KDAC from 22?

Stage 2: "The Cuyahoga River" (B ='s) Subtract 96 from the length (listed in miles) of the Cuyahoga River?

Stage 3: "Pennsylvania and Ohio Canal" (C ='s) Subtract 1834 from the year that the P and O Canal started?

Stage 4: "Plants and Animals" (D ='s) Add 2 to the number of the fish shown at this sign that you think Mr Fisherman would like to catch during any fishing trip? Please do NOT include the "Rainbow Darter".

Stage 5: "Nancy Wenninger" (E ='s) Subtract the year that Nancy was dedicated from 1989? (Please try not to step on the ivy by viewing the plaque from the walking path if at all possible, thank you!)

Stage 6: "Captain Sam Brady" (F ="s) Subtract 13 from the total distance (listed in feet) over the canal that Sam Brady jumped in order to flee from the indians that were chasing him? (The sign is a little hard to read due to the amount of scratches, so you can just put two two's side by side for the number to this answer and don't trust searching Google).

Please put the cache back just as you found it. And as always, be careful of Muggles using the walking path while you are locating the final stage of this mystery cache. Don't forget that there are many other caches to find in the Kent area. May the Geoforce be with you and Happy Caching!
