I've changed Oregon History Lesson #02 to #02.1!
I've also moved the location since the original did not have any really great cache hiding spots, and the new
location provides a double history lesson:
- The Sunset Highway - Find out why it's called the 'Sunset' highway
&
- The Tillamook Burn - Learn about Oregon's historic Tillamook forest fires
If you want to actually go into the forest where the burn took place, please check out this cache called The Burn by Ward Cunningham.
If you've been to OHL2 before, feel free to come back, find the cache, and log your visit as a find.
Collect information from the locations pictured below to answer some questions and find the location of the
nearby cache.
Questions:
- A total of nn billion board feet of timber was killed.
- September xx, 1940 was the day the division was mobilized for
WWII.
- yy thirds of Tillamook timber revenue goes to support county
schools and other local services.
- The memorial was dedicated on September zz, 1995.
Note: Not all of the unknows are 2 digit humbers.
Now that you have the answers to the questions above, place them into fun math stuff below:
nn+xx+yy+zz+97=AAA
nn+xx+yy+zz+50=0BB
More math:
Add .AAA to the latitude of N45° 47.733
Subtract .0BB from the longitude of W123° 27.564
This will give you the location of the cache.
The cache is a unique container that I found at the Army surplus store, but I 'fractal-ized' it
The container is large enough to hold CD's and bottles of water.
Enjoy the history lessons and enjoy the cache!
