Geocache Description:

These co-ordinates take you to the first stage at the start of the multi-cache.

From the parking, head east along the north shore of the moat and have a look for the place where the 'orange polo' would normally be held....?

Easy for all levels of cachers.

This cache is located on the northern face of The Hilsea Lines. The defences were initially built by Henry VIII to protect the naval interests from an inland attack.

I hope this cache will raise awareness of this historical site and attract like minded visitors to the less popular northern shores of Portsea Island.

To find the cache one will need to navigate some woodland paths and climb a gentle slope through some trees.

This is a camouflaged ammo box clearly marked with Geo-cache stickers. There are free local site leaflets inside supplied by the Hilsea Lines Ranger Service.

This cache was placed with kind permission of the Hilsea Lines Ranger, however The Council have stated two provisos:

1. It retains the right to remove the cache if for any reason it deems that it has resulted in damage to the scheduled monument and the surrounding area.

2. As the cache is not directly on a recognized path, anyone using
the geocache do so on their own risk.
