Geocache Description:

The Cache

The cache container is a camo bison tube. You will need your own pencil. There is no room for swaps or trackables. Please take care to replace the cache exactly as you find it.

Farey Oak is a very old, possibly five-hundred years, pollarded oak lying next to the old Buckingham-Towcester Road, and probably used as a waymarker in the old coaching days. It is named after the original owner of the field.

Stowe

The new caches have been placed with the kind permission of the National Trust at Stowe. The National Trust took over stewardship of the site in 1989 and has been restoring it ever since. You can find out more about the National Trust's excellent work at the Stowe National Trust Website.

Ground Rules

Stowe is a National Trust property therefore there are limited opening hours. Please do not attempt to gain access when the site is closed. Details of opening times are published on the website.

The caches are all in the parkland and are therefore free to access.

The National Trust charges a small fee of around £2/day for parking at the New Inn (free for NT members if you have your sticker in the car). Parking is also available on the north side at the old entrance. This is currently free. A new car park is being developed at Home Farm on the north side, which will eventually replace the old car park up by the school.

In particular please note that the parkland is open from dawn until dusk, so please do not attempt this cache when it's dark.

Please do not park anywhere on the site other than in the designated parking areas.

The total walking distance around all of my caches starting from the Visitor Centre at the New Inn is around 7.5 miles (12km). Please note there are no facilities in the parkland.
