Geocache Description:

Spring Creek Bridge

Riley Park is a quaint little place in south central Derby, Kansas, located along East Kay Street. It is defined by the temperamental Spring Creek that forms its southern boundary, and depending on the conditions, Spring Creek can trickle down to just a few inches or aggressively climb and even crest the high banks it has carved through the area over time. Although the history is a little unclear as to its origin, the old bridge remnants that still cross the creek here are quite intriguing. Said to be part of the ole Laubers Farm, this bridge is rumored to have been operational up into the 70's. It has since been reduced to just the concrete pillars and iron I-beams that use to be incased in concrete. As you will see, there is an inviting pallet here for upcoming local artist to tryout their skills.

The cache is just over the bridge (easier said than done), and can only be accessed from the north (Riley Park). You are looking for a naturally camouflaged matchstick container hidden amongst some of the farms old fence lines. Believe it or not, this area is extremely trafficked. There are young muggles all over the area that can see you here on this high point. The cache is specifically placed and camouflaged to help counteract this. Please use stealth while searching and try to re-hide it as it was intended to ensure its longevity. Thank You. Enjoy!

Special thanks to Robfire for bringing me here, and the inspiration from his now archived ...The Old Bridge, GCRTMK.
