A River Runs Through It Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

GeoWyrm: I give up. This was one of my favourites, but if the cooperation of the Calgary City Police, the City of Calgary and geocachers can't keep this area clear, I cannot keep this tricky little cache here any longer. Perhaps it is better suited for "an easy find today" type cache. Apologies to those who looked forward to a second chance on this one. Unless you make it out before I retrieve it (probably Monday), time has run out.

Geocache Description:

You are looking for a very well camouflaged bison tube.

In accordance with Calgary's Tree Protection Bylaw, you will not find this cache in a tree. You will also not find it sitting on the ground, and of course it is not buried.

I found the hide while geocaching one day but by the time I returned home I had lost the vision. It remained in the car for months and finally was discarded. After a large snowfall, sudden inspiration made me dig through a snowbank to retrieve the item. After help from Mr. GeoWyrm, one more day and we had it out! Hope you enjoy!

The cache is placed here to highlight an underutilized part of Nosecreek Pathway. Perhaps it is because I am originally a flatlander, growing up where nearly all creekside areas were developed into picturesque pathways for all to enjoy, but I believe this area could be developed more and enjoyed by more people. I had to CITO quite a bit, and there is still more to do (including no less than four randomly placed socks) but perhaps with increased traffic it will start to look more loved.

Please use the recommended parking coordinates. There is absolutely no place to stop on McKnight; however, if you are walking down McKnight you can easily access the pathway from the sidewalk.

Attribute for "Not Winter Friendly" added. Although during 'normal' Calgary winter it shouldn't pose a problem, during heavy snowfall the cache will be much more difficult to find. Terrain ranking because during warm winter days, spring and after rainfall there is likely going to be plenty of water and mud in the area.
