Parking available at 2 spots. I used N 42 13.227 W 072 00.748 but you can also park down the road at N 42 14.246 W 071 59.954. Please replace all caches the way you found them.
In 1870 a route was surveyed from the Boston and Albany Railroad at South Spencer to the center of the village. The issue was brought to a town meeting in 1872 where the idea was voted "to pass over the article." Various other surveys were now made covering this and many other routes. It wasn't brought up again until April 7, 1877, where the article was passed over once again. After several other meetings on the same subject, the town finally, on April 3, 1878, voted to spend approximately $25,000 on building the railroad. In 1878, a 2 1/4 mile railroad was built, connecting Spencer Center with the Boston-Albany Railroad at Spencer Depot NE with the station being at South Spencer. After it was decommissioned and removed, it was tuned into Depot Trail. It now connects Chestnut Street and S. Spencer Road.
This series has a little bit of everything. Some simple, some not. With that, remember that this is just a hobby and it's not worth getting severely injured just to sign a log. I planted this series in the winter so it may be more difficult when everything fills in. As always wear your hunter orange during hunting season. Signs on the trails say no ATV's but it's obvious people don't care or don't know how to read. Becareful on some of the trails because some points have hills and I can imagine a rider not paying attention when hitting the top. I have been out 5 times since I planted this series to confirm coords and I have yet to see one however it's obvious they are around. Bushwacking will be required on some of the caches in this series but never anything over 150-160 feet.
