Murray'n'Janet: We have archived this to allow a new cache to be set up near by. This cache was known to have a short life as the tree it is sitting is starting to rot. We may reestabish this at a later date at a more suitable location.

A tree which has been transformed into a chainsaw carving outside KEA (Kawerau Enterprise Agency).
Pou whenua are carved posts placed strategically on the land to acknowledge and represent the relationship between Tāngata Whenua (the people of the land), their ancestors and their environment or tūrangawaewae (place of standing).
This one is chainsaw carved and represents the abundance of food available from the land in this area. There is a poem about the peace, tranquility and the joy of "bringing home the bacon".
Unfortunately the carving has begun to deteriorate and bits broken but hopefully the treatment it has been given will halt this.
Please replace cache exactly as you find it.
