"Golden Ammo Can" -- Monhina hits 1,000 finds Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ScrappyDooPup: by some stroke of good luck, excellent Karma, a miracle, or all three, my cache container which I thought had been muggled has actually been recovered with ALL OF ITS CONTENTS (including three TB's) !!! I can partially contribute this to the green "Official Geocache" sticker that I had placed on the side of the ammo can with my contact information -- I now highly recommend this practice! the cache was taken into possession by the City of Dallas as work crews feared it was something suspicious; however, the manager is related to some geocachers so he knew it was OK. he notified me to come pick it up at his office. the manager was very nice and we discussed how the world has changed and innocent things now raise needless suspicions. here is an excerpt from his email...

"City of Dallas (COD) Flood Control Division, found your geocache under Margaret Hunt Hill bridge. It was removed and we took custody of the box. This bridge belongs to Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) and we are the land manager."

their office doesn't want cache containers placed in the manner in which I placed this ammo can so I will be archiving the cache and finding a new location for a new hide. I will move the TB's onto other caches.

Geocache Description:

This cache is a specially-painted ammo can (the "gold" is on the INSIDE).

Congratulations Monhina for reaching 1,000 finds.

*** PLEASE BE EXTRA STEALTHY HERE AS YOU MAY BE WATCHED FROM AFAR BY MUGGLES. ONCE YOU GET TO GZ, YOU CAN SEE THAT IT'S EASY TO THINK YOU ARE BY YOURSELF HERE. ***

The terrain level is set only due to the height of the hiding place -- if you are extraordinarily vertically-challenged, you can expect to bump that rating up a notch (see "hint").

Best parking (?) may at the Jack in the Box on Continental Ave and North Industrial Blvd (AKA Riverfront Blvd).

Be kind to the next cacher by trading swag even or trading up (don't take something unless you leave something of equal or greater value); we also like to read what trade items you took & left so if you include that in your log too, that would be great!

Bio:
Monhina started caching in January 2006 under a different geo-name. She stopped caching in September 2006, after 59 finds, and began a 1,071 day slump.

She met a caching couple, Scrappydoopup and Scooby Drew, through a part-time job with Crocs in The Parks at Arlington Mall. These two guys were somewhat new to geocaching at the time but already avidly into the game. August 2009 was her first caching excursion with Scrappy and Scooby and that got her hooked again. Shortly after that point in time, Monica changed her caching name to Monhina, which is a hybrid of her nickname "Mon" and "Hina", the goddess of butterflies, for her love of the species.

One-third of the caching team "Mystery, Inc.", so named for the Scooby Doo cartoon theme, she was appointed as "Troop Guide" because she was the only member of the team who owned a "real" GPS, although now we pretty much only use smartphone GC apps as they are much more convenient and now highly accurate.

Monhina's caching achievements include attending two Mega-events and one GPS Adventures Exhibit. She has also found a Project APE cache, a Webcam cache, two Earthcaches, and two NGS Benchmarks. Caching in 15 states as well as in The Bahamas. To date, she has logged over 800 trackables.

Monhina is frequently accompanied by Pearl, her caching chiweenie (Chihuahua / Dachshund -mix).
