Geocache Description:

I had stumbled on this and wondered what it was. It intrigued me so I placed a cache. Went home and Google it and this is what I found out.

National Safe Place. And we’re here to help.

When kids and teens find themselves in crisis or need a place to stay, they should know how and where to get help. Our nation’s young people deserve safety and shelter-and many youth feel that at home, they don’t have either. But thanks to Safe Place, help for teens is never too far away.

National Safe Place is an outreach program designed to provide access to immediate help and safety for all youth in crisis. Locally, Safe Place is a community initiative that designates schools, fire stations, libraries and youth-friendly businesses as Safe Place sites where youth can access help and supportive resources.

Safe Place locations extend the doors of the local youth service agency or shelter to support troubled teens, runaways and homeless children throughout the community, creating a safety net for youth.

National Safe Place Statistics as of March 1, 2012
• 132,916 Youth have been connected to immediate help and safety at Safe Place locations
• 19,582 Safe Place sites available across the country
• 141,331 Youth have received counseling by phone as a result of Safe Place school outreach
• 143 Safe Place programs operated by youth service agencies (including ten communities with a Safe Place designated shelter)
•39 Safe Place states
• 1,567 Communities served by Safe Place
• 9,861,608 Students have learned about Safe Place through classroom presentations

I'm glad there are places out there for our youth that need a hand up not a hand out. You are looking for a keyholder. Please bring your own writing instrument and place back as found. Happy caching!
