I would like to explain the meaning of this series. First, my name raven429 comes from my active duty squadron (429th Electronic Combat Squadron (ECS)) home of the EF-111 Raven.
The 429th Electronic Combat Squadron inactivated on June 19, 1998, at Cannon AFB, NM. The squadron's inactivation came as a result of the US Air Force's decision to retire all EF-111 aircraft (all of which were stationed at Cannon AFB) from its inventory, with the retirement of the 34-year-old aircraft set to be completed by June 30, 1998. The EF-111 Raven's primary role was to jam early warning ground interceptor radar and acquisition radar for enemy surface-to-air missile systems and enemy anti-aircraft artillery.
As stated, our primary goal was to jam enemy radar so we could fly in unseen. In fact, our squadron motto was
Deny, Deceive, Defeat.
Now, this series is dedicated in memory of the Raven’s that started my military career.
Don't let this defeat you!
