Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden in a part of Almond Park where there is a splendid boardwalk which follows the burn. It has recently been spruced up with a new section overlooking a pond area.

This is a West Lothian derivative of a series set in North East Scotland by Stinky_Dog. It is said that there are 5 rats for every human being on the earth, which means you're no more than 15 metres from one at any given time. If you live in London, this figure rises to a rat proximity of 5 metres. Lucky for you this isn’t London but how close are you......?

Some Rat Facts:

  • There are about 56 different species of rats.
  • Rats have been proven to make a laughter-like noise (unable to be heard by the human ear alone) when tickled.
  • The life span of a rat is typically 2-5 years.
  • The Rat Pack. Originally dubbed by the press, this was a name given to a group of actors centred on Humphrey Bogart in the 1950's. The more (in)famous 1960's derivitive was centred on Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jnr, Peter Lawford & Joey Bishop. The latter group made several films together including the original Oceans 11 and Robin & The Hoods..
  • Roland Rat was described as "the only rat to join a sinking ship". After a couple of months on TV-am, Roland took the audience from 100,000 to 1.8 million.
The cache has room for small travellers and swap items. You can add your own rat fact to your log if you wish.
