This area was once used by boaters, campers & people having picnics. Due to budget restraints, it has now been closed for many years and is becoming quite overgrown. It is, however, available to geocachers willing to take a nice walk to find a cache.
Park at the closed gate. Except for the last 10 – 20 feet, the walk to this cache is all on pavement. The cache is located near the park’s old pavilion. Once a site for family and group picnics, since the closing of the park it has become a party place for young people who trespass into the park after dark. Evidence of their partying abounds in the pavilion and the parking lot. When I first hid this cache, I took a look at the pavilion and was amazed that it had not been burned to the ground! On the floor, well underneath the roof, there were ashes and other remnants from a campfire!
To avoid having the cache muggled by one of these youthful partiers, I placed it away from the pavilion. You are looking for a 35 mm film can.
This cache is placed under permit approved by
the Park Manager, Corps of Engineers, Russellville Project Office.
At the request of the Park Manager, DO NOT search for this cache after dark.
