Geocache Description:

This is a redo/remix of a cache classic (IMHO), Welcome to Placerville (GCTKD5). The original was my 50th cache found and the inspiration for my first hide. But due to massive highway construction this one had to go away. So in honor of the original and the cache hiders, Travelin' Gnomes, who are still active but no longer in the area I dedicated this redo/remix. Where practical the write up is the same as the original.

The following is the write up of the original:
"Welcome to Placerville" the sign reads. Many of us have seen this sign almost daily. Yet have you ever wondered who was welcoming you? Probably not. But none-the-less, by the time you have completed this two stage cache you will have gained new insights into those offering this up-till-now anonymous welcoming.

First, print out the attached clue sheet! Once you have printed it out make sure you take it with you to the first stage coordinates listed above.

Once you arrive at the first stage coordinates you will need to determine the coordinates to the second/final stage by correctly solving the clues on your clue sheet. All of the clues can be solved using an object you will find at the first stage coordinates, and the key on the clue sheet. These clues may be (but are not always) a play on words, and were intended to be a little challenging, sometimes a little obscure, somewhat humorous, and mostly fun.

This paragraph no longer pertains.Your orientation to the object you will find at the first stage is critical if you are to solve the clues correctly. Your orientation to the object is correct if there is a "K of C" in front of you and a "K.F.C." behind you.

When successfully completed each clue will have a single digit numerical answer. These digits when placed into the corresponding missing coordinates on the clue sheet will give you the coordinates to the second/final cache site.

I had a lot of fun thinking up this cache and hope you have as much fun solving it.

That ends the original write up and it tells you just about all you need to know. 1st and final stages have been relocated, clue sheet updated but the concept remains the same. You will probably want to drive from the posted coords to the parking area near the final stage. You cannot drive to the actual final, a short walk will be required. Depending on the day of week and time of day there may be a lot of muggles in the area. And PLEASE do not approach the first stage via the freeway.

Bring your own writing tool.
