Battle of Nashville - Redoubt No. 5 Traditional Cache
sduck: It looks like they've cleared the trail, but looks like the moved everything they cleared right onto the area the cache is/was. There's no way to get to it. So after 8 years I'm archiving it. Thanks to everyone who found it!

Small lock& lock, easy park and grab (with short hike) unless the weather is wet, in which case the trail gets slippery. Left an unactivated geocoin for the FTF.
As far as I know the redoubt is now gone, and they've built a house on the hill where it used to be. It's a very nice house (I've been in it) and has a great view, but I haven't investigated the yard, so parts of it may still exist. While exploring to see if any remnants of the redoubt were still extant and/or accessible, I found this great little trail, which has a great view during the winter.
I couldn't find much specific information about this particular redoubt. One site had this, which basically repeats what the historical marker says: Hood's Redoubt No. 5 was on this hill. Couch's Division of the XXIII Corps, sweeping to the south of the route of Smith's XVI, captured it and the hills to the east late in the afternoon. Wilson's cavalry, crossing the highway about 2 miles south, advanced rapidly eastward flanking the Confederate defenses.
