I'm a cat person. I've got two at home right now. Rex and Cho (Harry Potter fame).
Penny was a German Shepherd that my Grandfather owned. After he died in 1973, she was givin to the Smith Bros. Fisheries, to guard the net shanty grounds.
After school, I would go down to the West Slip of the Port Washington Harbor, to wait for our fish tug to come in.
While waiting for the 'Oliver", I would let Penney have one of my 'Long John Donuts'. This would allow my entrance to the compound
My Dad used to store the mast of his sailboat, over the winter, upstairs in the net shanty. He never liked Penney and Penney never liked him either.
He would send me into the net shanty, to get Penney into another area where I could close her off from the rest of the shanty. Having done this, we could get the mast in or out without Penney going after my dad.
