25th March 2012.
This could be confusing. The event will start at 01:00 in the wee small hours of Sunday morning and will end at 02:00 - about an hour later. Or will it?
This cache has a 2 star difficulty rating because of the time that it is being held.
The event is to be held at the location of a now missing, telephone box. (If you want to get geeky about it, I believe that it was a K2, but stand to be corrected). Why is it missing? Where has it gone? Will it come back?
Here is the educational bit. Skip it if you like.
Blame William Willett (10 August 1856 – 4 March 1915).
Willett was a builder who in 1907 published a proposal to introduce daylight saving time. Originally, he proposed advancing the clock by 20 minutes on four consecutive Sundays in April and undoing the temporal damage during September in another four 20 minute steps in the other direction. His proposal was modified in order to simplify the issue and he convinced an MP to support the move. The idea was passed into law in 1916.
Since then, there have been a couple of variations to this arrangement notably during WW2 and also in 1947 in order to help with fuel shortages.
There seems to be an annual debate about scrapping the practice or even introducing double summertime.
In practice, the main effect seems to be to make Mrs Who grumpy in the morning when she loses an hour's sleep and happy when she gains one!
So when setting this event location, I thought about where it should be held in order to make the most of the time travel possibilities. But when I thought about it, it became clear that it really didn't matter, because this event isn't going to happen is it? Or is it? Who can tell?
Arrive a couple of minutes early or you could miss this event completely - you have been warned.
