This site is accessed from the gate adjacent to Kawerau Intermediate School playing fields on River Road. Then walk into the reserve and through the "Trees for Babies" plantation to the first stage
The cache is a two stage multi, with the first stage at the coordinates listed, it is hidden in a small pill bottle in a black bag.
The final stage takes you close one of the water tanks on the hill. This cache is a small click-clack about 120mm x 90mm, in a black bag.
The Mural of the Bush Scene on the water tank, was painted by Marc Spijkerbosch a local mural artist. Marc specialises in "trompe l’oeil" technique, and has won many international awards and commissions.
See if you can find and name all the native birds in the Mural.
This mural is one of eight murals that Marc has done in Kawerau, the other locations include:- Swimming Pool, Skate Park, Library, SH34 Wall, Kawerau Intermediate School, Putauaki School, the Town Centre Playground.
These paintings are all easily viewable and they are well worth a tour around to view them all.
