Geocache Description:

Snapware container on the small side.

This cache is past the Strontia Springs Dam area. While the road in Waterton Canyon is not that steep for the first 6 miles or so, you will find otherwise for the last half mile or so to this cache location. Part of this last section is also quite rocky.

You might see some people flying down this hill on mountain bikes or slogging slowly up the hill.

Near the location of the cache is what I consider to be the real start of the Colorado Trail. There is a bench there where a lot of people rest before heading up the single track trail. Therefore, sometimes you must be stealthy when finding this cache.

While the cache is amongst some rocks, you will not need to climb on or over any of them. One is convenient for sitting on and if you have your back to the aforementioned bench, what you are doing should be shielded from any muggles present.

As always in Waterton Canyon, watch for rattlesnakes, bighorn sheep and mule deer. I recall seeing a buck near this location once.

The day I hid this cache, it was about 70 degrees but there was still snow at this location but I did not have to walk in any to get to the cache.

It is about 7 miles from the trail head to this cache - one way.

Two trackables in the cache to start.

Be sure to bring a ton of water when going to this cache.
