This is an ancient site, with a long and varied history that dates back over 1,000 years ago. The ruins of the original castle can still be found on the grounds. Edward Rice (original name was Rhys) built this stately castle in the 1600. The ruins of which still loom large over Dinefwr Park.

It is said a ghostly "white lady" who is said to be the cousin or sister of Elinir Cavendish from the 1720's. When she was forced to marry a man she did not love she fled to her families castle. The rejected lover hunted her down at Newton House and Incensed by the rejection, her spurned suitor murdered her in cold blood
Eliner Cavendish herself is said to walk the halls of Newton and loved to torment a television facilities company that occupied the building in the 1980's. It is said she made each of them ill. The crew also saw a ghost of a beautiful woman who vanished into the wall and although they searched for evidence of her, none could be found. It is believed this woman was the "white lady".
