PRAIA DE SANTA MÓNICA


A Praia de Santa Mónica situa-se na parte sudoeste litoral da ilha de Boa Vista em Cabo Verde.

O seu comprimento total é de aproximadamente 15 km e está compreendida entre o ponto mais ocidental da ilha (Varandinha) para o ponto mais meridional da ilha.

A região envolvente é desertica, sendo que o acesso à praia se faz por estradas e trilhos de terra-batida. 

Como tal, trata-se uma uma praia deserta e (ainda) 'virgem' da pesada mão humana!

 
Boa Vista ('boa visão') é a ilha mais oriental de Cabo Verde e 
está localizada no grupo Barlavento do arquipélago. 

A ilha é conhecida pelas tartarugas marinhas e pela música tradicional, pelas fantásticas dunas e pela sua ultramaratona.

A ilha também constitui o município de Boa Vista, que tem duas freguesiasSanta Isabel e São João Baptista.

 
Com uma área de 620 km ², é a terceira maior ilha, depois de Santo Antão e Santiago. Grande parte da ilha é planaO ponto mais alto da ilha é o Monte Estância, com 387 metros de altitude. Sua principal cidade é Sal Rei (capital), onde se situa o seu porto de ferry e, perto, também o Aeroporto (em Rabil).

Ilhotas circundantes incluem o Ilhéu de Sal Rei, apresentando um farol no oeste, e Ilhéu Baluate com o ponto mais oriental de Cabo Verde.

Praia de Santa Mónica (last part: Portuguese meaning Saint Monica, Capeverdean Crioulo: Praia di Santa Mónika) is a point beach covering the southwestern coastline of the island of Boa Vista in Cape Verde. Its total length is approximately 15 km and it extends from the island's westernmost point (Varandinha) to the island's southernmost point.
The beach are accessed with remote roads and it is not usable due to the desert area and underpopulation.
The area around are flat and bushy, the mountains dominate the area to the north.
 
 
Boa Vista (Portuguese meaning “good view”) is the easternmost island of Cape Verde. It is located in the Barlavento group of the archipelago. The island is known for marine turtles and traditional music, as well as its ultramarathon and its sand dunes and beaches. The island also constitutes the municipality of Boa Vista, which has two parishes, Santa Isabel and São João Baptista
 
 
 
With an area of 620 km², it is the third largest island, after Santo Antão and Santiago. It is 455 km west of the coast of Africa. Much of the island is flat. The highest point on the island is Monte Estância, elevation 387 meters; other mountains include Santo António (Saint Anthony) and Monte Negro (Black Mountain). Other features include Campo da Serra. Its main town is Sal Rei, its ferry port and home to Boa Vista's airport (Rabil Airport)on the northwest side of the island.
Surrounding islets include Ilhéu de Sal Rei featuring a lighthouse in the west, and Ilhéu do Baluate featuring the easternmost point in Cape Verde. Points include Ponta Antónia to the north.
