A cache on a side trip from the Routeburn Track
The Routeburn Track is one of New Zealand's "Great Walks", and this cache is placed at the highest point on the track.
Details of the track can be found at the DOC website for the Routeburn The distance from the Routeburn Shelter (carpark) to the Harris Saddle shelter is a bit over 10km, with a walking time of between 3 and 5.5 hours depending on many photos you stop to take.
This cache is at the top of Conical Hill, which can be reached at the end of side trip, of about 1 hour, which leaves the main track at the Harris Saddle Shelter.
Note: Access to this site will be limited in winter due to snow and avalanche danger. Check the info on the DOC website, or at the hut for the very latest.
